Abstract:
Change to address the climate crisis in socially just ways requires integrated action at both collective and individual levels. The connections between beliefs, values and behavior are complex, so promoting environmentally responsible behavior involves far more than educating people about climate change, as a wide variety of factors influence choices about sustainable behaviors. To assist in addressing these challenges this presentation will review best practices for encouraging people to engage in more environmentally responsible behaviors that have gleaned from 20 years of published scholarly studies and applied work in the field.
